Pharmacist Job Description
• Fill prescriptions, verify instructions from physicians on the proper amounts of medication to give to patients
• Check whether prescriptions will interact negatively with other drugs that a patient is taking or any medical conditions the patient has
• Instruct patients on how and when to take a prescribed medicine and inform them about potential side effects from taking the medicine
• Advise patients about general health topics and other issues, such as equipment or supplies would be best to treat a health problem
• Keep records and do other administrative tasks
Pharmacist Skills
• Must have accuracy and eye for detail
• Must be good at communicating with patients
• Ability to manage certain patients at the same time
• Capable of performing many duties such as administering drugs, verifying expiry dates, stocking required medicines, recording, and a variety of other little to large jobs
• To be able to do patient counseling
• Must have basic computer skills
• Proofreader, and tell back doctors of the situation, suggesting prescription modifications
